Dollhouse musings
I'm watching DOLLHOUSE, hoping for a shiny new fandom and after 3 episodes, I like but haven't fallen. Here are my initial thoughts:

Echo = Lobotomized Sydney Bristow.

Advantage: no emo Sydney
Disadvantage: the series is missing a SpyDaddy and without the resonance of a father figure and acting chops of Victor Garber, it doesn't seem to have an anchor

Boyd = Dixon

It's a nice twist that Dixon is the one in the know this time

Tamoh = Nice abs

Great play to your strengths on the introduction. Obviously he hasn't had a chance to develop much, but he needs contact with Echo. Could they make him into a Vaughn-type love interest? I don't know if that is the right course, but I think without a ship, this show is going to have a hard time.

Alpha - Does he solve the love interest question?

Topher = Marshall's evil twin brother?

Sloane = plot hole & missing counterweight

Once again I am reminded of house ALIAS' pilot immediately invested you in all the charcters from Day 1.

Maybe Echo was a college student that got recruited by an organization to go on covert missions. ;)

It'd be cool if Ballard is her boyfriend/fiance and is searching for her, but the only clue he has is the possible existance of the Dollhouse. Uh-oh. I'm already trying to ship the characters of a show on FOX they may or may not be axed.

hee! the more I think about it, I am wondering if Ballard is her brother.

I keep coming back to family connections and how they really do make for some of the most interesting drama

You may be right, but I hope not. They should have some established ship in this show, if it lasts that long, that is.

Dollhouse does seem like the Alias premise, minus everything that made Alias compelling. To be honest, it kind of reminds me of those vapid Cinemax porn series--something that aims to be sexy, but that utterly misses the mark.

I also question Fox's marketing strategy--it's like they think that the audience for TSCC and Dollhouse are frat boys. (The pairing of these shows is also strange--Dollhouse is way out of its league in that comparison.)
